Electronic Repeat Dispensing Service
If you are on regular daily medication that has not changed in dose over the last six months, we strongly advise you to switch your repeat prescriptions for these medicines onto Electronic Repeat Dispensing. You can obtain your repeat medicines from a nominated pharmacy of your choice every 56 days for up to 6 – 12 months without having to contact the surgery to order a prescription. Your prescription will automatically be sent to the pharmacy every 56 days. You just go to your pharmacy when you need more medication or contact them by phone if you usually have your medicines delivered, until all the prescriptions are used up. When this happens, you will need to contact your doctor’s surgery to request another set of prescriptions. The Pharmacist will ask you some questions when you collect your medication to check that there have been no changes and that everything is still needed.
This new system reduces the number of times you have to visit your surgery and makes it easier for you to access your repeat medications and seek advice through your local community pharmacy. You will still have to pay for your medications if you pay prescription charges, ask your pharmacy about purchasing a prepayment certificate (PPC) that could save you some money.
If you would like to take part in this scheme, please contact the surgery via text, email or telephone and ask to be added to this service. If you have any questions about how Electronic Repeat Dispensing will work for you, please do ask the staff at your pharmacy, or contact staff at the surgery.
